About

I lead product and research initiatives for independent media organizations. I've worked with startup newsrooms from small shops to large operations and am interested in building a better, more intentional future of media and information for all involved.

Currently, I'm exploring how service design, cooperative models, and more robust contribution systems can benefit everyone involved in journalism, from producers to consumers. I’ve worked with organizations like Tiny News Collective, 2PuntosPlatform, The Baltimore Banner, and Resolve Philadelphia. I'm also a Plumia Fellow researching taxation models for digital nations.

My work is somewhere at the intersection of journalism, technology, social impact, research and development, and community engagement. I'm still finding my perfect place in the middle of their Venn diagram (likely, that place probably doesn't exist yet). Someday, I also dream of folding things like economics, statistics, and linguistics into my work.

Before journalism and tech, I worked in conductive education, home healthcare, technical theatre, and an auto shop. I frequently find parallels between these prior roles and my current ones, and I'll write more about that someday.

I'm originally from the Twin Cities, Minnesota, studied journalism and economics at Temple University in Philadelphia (a city with a special place in my heart), and I'm currently based in Bogotá, Colombia.

Right now, I'm interested in exploring and learning more about statistical software (R, Stata), civic technology, community convening strategies, information equity, agile for small and non-technical teams, non-generative AI applications, impact measurement and assessment, sustainable economic development, and media economics.

Outside of work and work-related things, I like to travel and bike a lot.
